What we do.

We integrate multiple subjects into one curriculum

We believe that linking various disciplines (like history and literature) provides an opportunity for students to reach a deeper understaning of the material that they are studying.

We draw from scholarly research

As we write our curriculum we are constantly questioning what we know and seeking out the newest discoveries and most up to date information. It is our plan to update our curriculum every four years to include new research as it becomes available.

We include a variety of viewpoints

Whenever we have the opportunity we include more than one side of a debate so students have the opportunity to practice reasoning and critical thinking skills. Our history and literature curriculm is not western-centric.

Cheese Press Imprints

What is an imprint? The short version is this, an imprint is a division of a publishing company. The longer explanation is that publishing houses will divide the types of books they publish into more specialized categories and assign them to an appropriate division so that consumers can easily find more titles like the ones they like.

Cheese Press Publishing

How did Cheese Press get its name?

The Inaugural Class of Hazelwood Prep...
Year one for Hazelwood Prep was the first iteration of Influencers in American History. In an effort to teach primary sources the class was given a booklet to read aloud in class as we studied the World's Fairs. This booklet was an actual piece of memorabilia that children were given from a print on demand printing press display. As the students muddled through the booklet the main character repeatedly mentioned the wonderous cheese press that he discovered at the World's Fair. After about the third mention of a "cheese press" the students began to dramatically shout the phrase. As such the name was adopted for the publishing company as a fun sort of play on words.
